My name is Ryan Hood, and I am a May 2021 graduate of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, with my Bachelors of Arts in Sports Journalism and a minor in Political Science.

I specialize in broadcast production, and my skill set includes directing, technical directing, graphics operation, audio, videography, and more.

Most recently, I work as a Newscast Director on the morning show at WPBN/WGTU Up North Live in Traverse City, Michigan. My job responsibilities include coding 2.5 hours of programming in iNews to be executed on an automated Ross Overdrive switcher. In this position, I have managed large overnight breaking news stories such as school closings. inclement weather, and breaking national stories such as the passing of the bipartisan infrastructure bill. This position requires being very adaptive as news develops and reacting quickly to an ever-changing rundown. Other necessary skills include positioning talent, managing different feeds from reporters and newsfeeds, creating and operating graphics, and coding.

I was also the director for numerous Pac-12+ broadcasts of various ASU sports, mainly working in baseball. Working with currently-enrolled students, my job was to direct the newscast on a Tricaster switcher and ensure the delivery of quality broadcasts.

I spent two semesters in the Television Broadcast and Graphics Lab at Cronkite News, directing our nightly newscast on a Sony MVS 8000 switcher. Utilizing a Chyron graphics computer and EVS replay system, my job was to help deliver a quality nightly broadcast.

I have worked as a production intern for PHXTV, the city channel of Phoenix. My job description includes creating content for our various programming, including Inside Phoenix and Phoenix Pets.
